The Refinery Needs Its Own Defense

The GRAVHOUNDS Refinery defense mission sends you beyond simply protecting the Collector. The documented demo sequence requires connecting a pipeline to the Refinery, supplying Titanium, keeping the secondary objective running under attack, and getting its output back to the Collector. Prepare the Refinery's defenses before committing to the operation, because a strong home base does not automatically protect a distant work site.

This walkthrough follows explicitly named Refinery gameplay in a narrated co-op demo session, supplemented by October community reports from Kilnfield. It does not treat the introductory Collector mission as the same objective.

Connect the Pipeline and Supply Titanium

In Blitz's narrated demo run, the group calls out the Refinery, builds a pipeline connection to it, and then receives the instruction to load Titanium.

The useful order is:

  1. Locate the Refinery and establish the required pipeline connection.
  2. Set up defenses near the work site rather than spending everything at the Collector.
  3. Obtain Titanium and deliver it to the Refinery as the mission requests.
  4. Monitor the objective while processing and attacks are underway.

The source does not establish a universal Titanium requirement or an optimal pipeline route. Use the amount and connection prompts shown in your mission instead of planning around a guessed cost.

Deal With Processing Interruptions While Fighting

The Refinery is not necessarily a machine you activate and then ignore. The narrated co-op run includes repeated wheel-alignment interruptions while the other players contend with enemy waves. The group gets processing moving again after correcting the alignment toward the green indicator.

For a more detailed example, an October 18 Kilnfield community discussion describes four possible repair interactions: crystals that respond to the mining laser, switches pulled individually, a pull bar, and a wheel that must be held in alignment.

Those are player reports about the demo, including PC input descriptions. They are useful for recognizing a repair prompt, but they do not prove that every Refinery encounter uses the same sequence or that controller inputs match the mouse actions.

In co-op, assigning one player to the active repair while others cover the site can reduce the conflict between operating a panel and fighting nearby enemies. Keep communicating when an interruption appears rather than assuming someone else has seen it.

Recover the Product and Prepare to Leave

After the alignment work in the narrated session, the crew sends a blue shard back toward the Collector through its transport setup. The group then reaches the prompt to begin departure preparation. Follow your objective's delivery confirmation rather than assuming that finishing the Refinery's local interaction has already completed the whole job.

The same community discussion warns that secondary objectives can receive heavy attacks. Build and repair around the Refinery, and consider nearby optional activities before activating it: one player reports that a nearby vault supplied free turrets. That is a reported opportunity, not a guaranteed reward on every map.

Watch the objective health display as well. The developer's October demo changes explicitly added health displays for the Refinery and Coffee Cat. Once the job is complete, remain ready for Collector launch preparation and the return trip.

Refinery Mission FAQ

Is defending the Collector enough?

Not for the documented Refinery encounter. The secondary objective needs attention and nearby defenses while it processes resources.

What resource does the Refinery request?

The narrated demo mission explicitly calls for Titanium. The obtained material does not establish one fixed amount for every Refinery job.

Why does production keep stopping?

The available demo sources show maintenance interruptions, including wheel alignment. Read the active interaction prompt; the Kilnfield community report describes several different repair tasks.

Do I need exactly seven turrets?

No fixed minimum is established. A community player describes needing a large defense and frequent repairs, but that experience is not a universal seven-turret requirement or a guaranteed winning layout.
