Start With a Mod Plan You Can Actually Use

For an early GRAVHOUNDS damage setup, a critical-hit effect paired with critical-hit chance is a supported combination to consider. Rocket Barrage is one example: the narrated player experience describes rockets triggered by critical hits, giving a reason to take crit chance when that effect is already part of your run. If your actual problem is frequent reloads, incoming damage, or traveling between defenses, capacity, protection, or booster options can be a better immediate choice.

These are conditional demo recommendations. They do not establish an overall strongest Mod, guaranteed reward sequence, or a fully tested endgame build.

Useful Mod Choices by Role

What you needA supported choice or effectHow to judge it
A crit-triggered offensive setupRocket Barrage with critical-hit chanceConsider the combination when the trigger effect is available; crit damage and crit chance are different benefits.
Longer firing windowsStockpile's extra shots before reloadingUseful when magazine interruptions are the problem, especially in the cited shotgun playthrough.
Straightforward weapon improvementBig Shot's weapon-damage increaseA direct option when you want to improve the gun you are already using.
More protectionTough as Nails, described as reducing incoming damageAn alternative when surviving pressure matters more than another attack effect.
More movement flexibilityBooster fuel or recharge optionsConsider them when you are repeatedly crossing the operation or running out of boost during the job.

The offensive pairing has more than one source behind its basic idea. TheSixthAxis's September hands-on preview describes critical-hit effects producing small gravity effects and missile barrages. That supports building around a trigger, but not a promise that every similarly named effect remains identical after balance updates.

Separate a Mod's Effect From Your Recommendation

Gohjoe selected Rocket Barrage and then looked for more crit chance in his narrated run. Mr Feudal's playtest footage also shows offensive, defensive, and booster alternatives. Those are examples of player experience, not controlled comparisons of every choice.

A sensible recommendation starts with the stated effect and your task. A player holding the front line may value direct damage or protection. A player repeatedly returning from a distant objective may value movement. Extra shots help a weapon that keeps interrupting you with reloads, but should not be described as a reload-speed upgrade.

Avoid filling a deck with a supposed perfect combo solely because it sounds powerful. An effect that supports your actual weapon and job is easier to evaluate than a ranking built from names alone.

Use the October Mod Deck Builder

The official October demo devlog says the Mod Deck Builder becomes available after unlocking a couple of Mods. It lets you select 10 common Mods and up to two Showstoppers, and Reward Pods draw Mods from that selected deck. You can change the deck between expeditions.

Use that control to keep your pool aligned with your preferred approach. It does not mean you receive your preferred Mod immediately or in a fixed order. The same update also reduced extreme upper-end Mod and upgrade scaling, so September playtest impressions should not be presented as current damage measurements.

FAQ

What is a supported early crit combination?

Rocket Barrage with critical-hit chance is a coherent option described in the player footage. It supports the effect's trigger rather than proving a universal highest-damage build.

How many Mods can I put in the demo deck?

The October developer announcement specifies 10 common Mods plus up to two Showstoppers.

Should I always take a damage Mod?

No. A capacity, defensive, or movement option may address a more urgent problem in your run. Choose from the effects actually offered and the job you are doing.
